This project is part of I HeART Main Street, a program supporting Business Improvement Areas (BIAs) with the support they need to activate their main streets through public art and placemaking. This program engages BIAs, local artists and businesses across Ontario to create more vibrant and safe communities.
Project Type: Lamp Post Mural
Artist: Sima Naseem and Yen Linh Thai
Artist Statement: Artists Sima Naseem and Yen Linh Thai beautified Clarkson Village's main street by painting murals on street light poles along Lakeshore Road West. The murals were inspired by the local animals and plants, and illustrate the unity between Clarkson Village's diverse community and natural environment.
About the BIA: Our village is a place where every place feels like “your place”. Where customers are treated like family. Here, new businesses fit right in alongside those that have been here for 40+ years. Our business area is valued for its sense of community, history, beautiful surroundings, and excellent, diverse businesses. Clarkson Village is beautifully multifaceted and full of heart.
