This project is part of I HeART Main Street, a program supporting Business Improvement Areas (BIAs) with the support they need to activate their main streets through public art and placemaking. This program engages BIAs, local artists and businesses across Ontario to create more vibrant and safe communities.
Project Type: Permanent Exhibit
Artist: Vivian Rosas
Artist Statement: Inspired by the businesses that make Plains Rd special, Vivan Rosas envisioned folks taking a stroll and discovering what the strip has to offer. It’s got you covered whether you’re looking for some musical treasures, beautiful floral bouquets, ice cream, or even the finest olive oil.
About the BIA: The Aldershot Village BIA (Business Improvement Area) identifies Aldershot as a distinct community for shopping, dining and for doing business. In addition they has contributed to a variety of initiatives including the completion of a full interchange at Waterdown Road and revitalization and development along the Plains Road corridor. The BIA was established in December 2004, has partnered with other Aldershot groups – the Aldershot Community Honour Roll, Plains Road Village Vision Group, Partnering Aldershot, Alderfest Community Festival and others to build support for approximately 250 retailers and service professionals.
